The Best of Cape Cod
Head south from Boston for sand dunes and wind-swept beaches to find the best of Cape Cod. Quintessential New England charm, the Atlantic ocean and historic lighthouses will be waiting when you cross the bridge over the Cape Cod Canal. Estuaries, and coves provide calmer waters. The outer cape has waves and wind ready to welcome surfers and kite boarding. Weathered shingles, beautiful sunsets and lobster rolls are a short drive away in Cape Cod.

If you want to go somewhere with a nautical atmosphere then Cape Cod is perfect. There are countless harbors with boat-lined docks like this one. Whether you want to go on a whale watch, spend an afternoon on a fishing boat, or just paddle around calm waters on a kayak Cape Cod offers plenty of ways for you to get out onto the water.

My brother-in-law had dreamed of this since he was a 13-year-old attending Cape Cod Sea Camp: the Emack Attack. A 20-scoop ice cream sundae from Emack and Bolio’s ice cream shop. Finally, in his 40th year, he had assembled enough family members to help him polish one off. This was a list of our flavors, which, in the August heat, rapidly became one. And yes, we polished it off. Quite handily.
Bray Farm Rd N, Yarmouth, MA 02675, USA
Bray Farm is located in Yarmouth Port, Mass on Cape Cod. There are some scenic walking trails there and a variety of animals. Just behind the farm is a nice Cape Cod marshy area. If you go there during mealtime the animals can get animated. These sheep were too busy eating to care that I was taking a picture of their backsides; Either that or they were in time out.

Hidden down a nondescript side road close to the Hyannis airport is a boulangerie and cafe that has no equal on Cape Cod. The bread and buttery croissants will transport you to France immediately. The cafe serves European-style breakfast, lunch and dinner with live music on Wednesday nights. You’ll find traditional French brasserie fare, but my suggestion is to find out what’s local and order in that direction. My meal, 3 courses of local seafood, was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The scallop ceviche tasted as light as a feather and perfectly fresh from the sea. Espresso will finish the meal and you’ll be saying merci in no time.
