The fun and interactive fine-dining experience of Travail Kitchen & Amusements will be extended with the opening of Travail 2.0 in a larger new location, thanks to a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign that raised its goal of $75,000 in just six hours. (It ended up exceeded its goal, raising a total of $255,669). Mustachioed and tattooed, the chefs know how to have a good time and light up the room, figuratively and literally. Their goofy attitude is evident in their animal-costumed Kickstarter video, but their food is refined and plated to perfection, with final touches at the table. This new location allows for even more experimentation with flavors, textures, plating, and serving styles. It will also (hopefully) reduce the first-come, first-served wait time, or at least make it more palatable: They are sharing the space with the Rookery, which offers cocktails and small plates. Travail chefs have a cult foodie following, so if the wait is still too long, try their new pizza and house-made charcuterie restaurant, Pig Ate My Pizza. One-day pop-ups sporadically occur at different locations throughout the year. Follow Travail on social media to keep up.
